BlueEFFICIENCY from Mercedes-Benz stands for pioneering efficiency technologies as well as innovative packages of measures for the optimisation of fuel consumption and emission levels.

There are ten BlueEFFICIENCY models available for the E-Class Saloon. All feature environmentally acceptable technologies or extensive special measures.

The BlueTEC catalytic conversion technology makes use of the reactant AdBlue® to purify exhaust gases. With it, it is possible to reduce nitrogen oxides by up to 80 %. The currently cleanest diesel technology in the world is applied in the E 350 BlueTEC: already today it complies with the future EU 6 exhaust emissions standard.

The latest-generation CDI diesel engines display compelling performance characteristics coupled with low consumption levels. Injection pressure has been increased, smoothness of operation enhanced and noise levels optimised, while reduced compression makes for lower emission levels.

Direct injection, increased compression and multiple turbocharging in the new CGI engines enable top torque, output and noise reduction levels. Innovative engine technology makes it possible to significantly reduce emissions and fuel consumption compared with previous models.

All the E-Class BlueEFFICIENCY models are equipped with numerous different features according to the type of fuel used and engine fitted. These are, for instance:
